Welcome to Album Hour on Longwave Music Radio.
In this episode, we sit down with Cork folk musician Alan Daniel Tobin to discuss his music and his latest album, 'Mountain Common', with tracks from the album woven throughout the conversation. Alan talks about his musical journey, his work with LOWmountain, songwriting, collaboration and the deeply personal stories behind 'Mountain Common', an album he describes as a musical timestamp of his life and a diary for his children. We also discuss the changing music landscape, from Spotify and streaming to AI-generated music, and why Alan believes that as technology becomes more capable of creating music, the human stories behind artists may become more important than ever. The conversation also explores Palestine, activism, Irish music culture and Alan's involvement in an all-Ireland songwriting initiative bringing musicians from North and South together.
